25 years of .com domain names

On March 15 1985, symbolics.com was registered as the first .com domain name ever.
In 1985, 25 years ago, only 6 entities registered a .com domain name. By 1992 no more than 15.000 domain names were registered. The number of .com domain name registrations has expanded rapidly since then. By 2010, almost 20 years later, the number of .com domain name registrations has increased by 84 million domain names. It has appeared that internet is booming business for the global economy and the use of the .com domain name definitely contributes to this success.
