Whois: domain name availability check

E-commerce is thriving due to the rapid adoption of the internet as a sales and marketing channel. But, before it can be active on the internet, a business needs a domain name (or URL). Novagraaf’s Whois service enables you to check the availability of your desired domain name – and any variations of that name that consumers may mistakenly confuse with your own.

Please enter your desired domain name in the window below. Click on ‘search’ to see if the domain name is still available. You can also examine possible misspellings of your domain name using the ‘generate misspellings’ button. This will give you greater insight into the domain names that are very similar to your own selected domain name, as well as their availability.

Your own digital location

A domain name gives a business its own unique site on the internet. But, so rapid has been the uptake of popular domains, such as the dotcom, that there is now a very real chance that any new domain name you select will no longer be available. To find this out as quickly and effectively as possible, Novagraaf has developed its Whois web tool.

Misspellings or typos

But, it’s not simply the selection of new domain names that is of importance to businesses online. They also need to monitor the internet to ensure that a third party hasn’t registered any domain names that look similar to their domain name in an effort to confuse consumers; for example, misspellings or typos. It is very common for consumers to make typographical errors when entering a domain name (for example, instead of, and often they are unaware that they have done so. Letters are also regularly swapped around, entered twice or an adjacent key is accidentally pressed.

As well as increasing the risk of fraud (such as phishing, for example), this type of registration also leads to the impairment of your own domain name. With the Novagraaf Whois tool you can check against common mistakes possible misspellings of the domain names that you are looking to register and/or protect.

Additional searching is possible

No Whois search is able to provide you with 100% certainty. If you have any doubts or need more information or assistance, Novagraaf can also perform an availability search for you. Depending on your interests, that availability search can also focus on the registries that cannot be consulted with Whois.
