Bad Romance

Nothing is easy in entertainment land this summer. Lady Gaga is sued again for copyright infringement. Vocalist Rebecca Fancescatti, says Gaga’s hit song "Judas" is a rip-off of her 1999 tune "Juda". She is basically claiming that Gaga plagiarized her song. Not only is the phonetic resemblance obvious between the song titles, it also extends to the lyrics and melodies used, says Fancescatti.

In her lawsuit Rebecca Francescatti names Gaga, along with Interscope Records, Universal Music Group, DJ White Shadow and sound engineer Brian Joseph Gaynor as participants in creating the single “Judas”, a song which bares “a substantial similarity” to “Juda” because Gaga allegedly “copied and incorporated substantial, original portions” of the work, though it was previously copyrighted and recorded with Gaynor. Francescatti is now seeking a cut from the profits “Judas” has earned.
