We got a situation
Rumble in the trademark jungle for Jersey Shore actress and 'guidette' Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office announced that she will not be able to file her trademark for her nickname successfully.
Why? The USPTO granted the trademark rights to a cartoon cat back in 2004: the 2004’s children’s book Adventures of Snooky by Brian J. Publishing Inc. The USPTO explains that it fears there would be a likelihood of confusion between Snooky and Snooki.
As is expected from the human Snooki, she is on the prowl for more and is opposing the Trademark’s Office decision. Furthermore, it is likely that her trademark application for ‘Snooki’ for “Entertainment in the nature of personal appearances by a television personality" will be approved. For the remainder of the trademark, it is going to be a tough question which cat will come out on top!Tweet
