Since 2006 Novagraaf has advised and supported Orangina Schweppes on the protection of its Intellectual Property rights worldwide. At this stage, the company’s brands extend to 175 countries.

SchweppesOrangina Schweppes is a European group with a strong local presence that specialises in the manufacturing, distribution and sale of soft drinks. The company’s total revenues amount to €1 billion and Orangina Schweppes employs nearly 2,500 people. The company is the leading player in the still fruit drinks market in Western Europe, the second biggest company in the non-cola sparkling soft drinks in Europe and the third in the sparkling soft drinks market in Western & Eastern Europe. Its products are sold in over 60 countries, reaching as far as Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and French overseas territories and departments.

Orangina Schweppes’ core historical brands – Orangina, Schweppes, Oasis, Trina, Pulco and La Casera – are responsible for 80% of all revenues. The complete portfolio includes up to 22 diversified brands, all with a long history and deeply established local roots in the countries in which they are sold. The company owes its growth to geographical expansion and to the fact that it has always respected the traditions, flavours and tastes of local markets.

Since 2006 Novagraaf has advised and supported Orangina Schweppes onthe protection of its Intellectual Property rights worldwide. At this stage, the company’s brands extend to 175 countries.

Orangina Schweppes is a very active company in the drinks market and has acquired a number of new and different brands; for example, Sunny Delight and Pulco. Following such acquisitions, all trademarks and related IP rights need to be transferred to Orangina Schweppes. This is a time-consuming process and difficult to manage in-house. Practice also shows that the formalities involved with transfers of ownership, for example, can take years if an IP professional is not 100% familiar with local legislation.

Novagraaf is, therefore, honored to work with Orangina Schweppes and to guide it through the various IP processes involved with managing a large, global IP portfolio. These processes are not only international, but extremely diverse, including, for example: recordals, searches and filings, as well as advising on IP strategy. By concentrating on these activities, Novagraaf is able to ensure that the Orangina Schweppes brand is well protected around the world.
