Philippe Kohn began his IP career in 1978 in a patent department of a multinational company. After 40 years of working in various patent industry and IP firm positions, Philippe joined Novagraaf Technologies in 2019.
Philippe holds an engineering degree from the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers – ENSAM”. He is also a graduate of the “Centre d'Etudes Internationales de la Propriété Industrielle” (C.E.I.P.I)”, with a specialisation in patents and trademarks (University of Strasbourg) since 1982.
Since 1978, Philippe has been working in the field of intellectual property in the industry (The Bendix Corporation - Ducellier Bendix Airéquipement, ITT Corporation, Renault) and later in IP firms.
Philippe has been a French IP Attorney since 1986 and a European Patent Attorney registered with the EPO since 1983.
Philippe works in the following technical fields: Mechanics (Automotive, rail, marine, aeronautics), Leisure industries (VDL, leisure equipment), Packaging, Biofuels, Electromechanics (HMI, switches, connectors), Industrial robotics and automation, Cellulose processing, Medical equipment.
Philippe is a member of the EPI (European Patent Institute), the CNCPI (National Intellectual Property Attorneys’ Association), and the LES (Licensing Executives Society)
Philippe's areas of expertise are as follows: patent drafting (French and English) and management of the granting proceedings of French, European and foreign patent applications (US, Japan, China, India, Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Eurasia, etc.), examination, opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, expert reports on patentability, freedom of exploitation, infringement and validity of patents, disputes, seizures and infringements, IP Strategies, construction and audits of patent portfolios, evaluations, negotiations, drafting of agreements and licenses and regulations for IP rights co-ownership.
