Cyril Mavré entered the world of IP in 2004 through technology monetization. Since then, he has assisted numerous clients in developing their IP strategy and understanding their technological environment. Previously the Head of the IP Consulting and Patent Analytics Team at Questel, Cyril is now Director of Business Development at Novagraaf Consulting.
Career history
Cyril holds an engineering degree in physics and instrumentation (Grenoble INP, France), as well as a specialist Master's degree in innovation management (Grenoble School of Management, France).
Starting in 2004, Cyril participated in developing the licensing activity for the CEA (France's largest research institute – 15,000 researchers) and its expansion to other innovation stakeholders.
In 2009, Cyril co-founded Avenium Consulting (which became Questel Consulting, then Novagraaf Consulting) and took responsibility for the energy, transportation and sustainable development sectors before assuming overall responsibility for the business.
In 2026, Cyril joined Novagraaf as Head of Business Development, tasked with revitalising the firm's activity and modernising its practices.
Work highlights
Cyril teaches at IEEPI and the Grenoble School of Management. He is a regular speaker at events related to his areas of expertise (Smart Grids Conference in Paris, London IP Summit, 2PAD – Two Days of Patent Analytics in Russia, Supernova Invest X SISTA event, etc.).
He is certified by the INPI (French National Institute of Industrial Property) as an IP strategy coach. He co-authored a white paper on IP strategy published by the INPI in 2019.
Since 2004, Cyril has helped all types of international stakeholders – academic institutions, large corporations, and startups – understand and monitor their technological environment, analyse their IP assets, identify and leverage their best patents, develop intellectual property strategies, and build IP assets aligned with their business models.
Cyril has conducted IP audits for over 100 startups and helped many of them develop and implement IP roadmaps.
He has also launched more than 50 patent or patent portfolio valuation programs, resulting in several licensing agreements.
