Intellectual Property Consultant | Brussels

We are looking for an Intellectual Property Consultant (IP) with a focus on trademark law to join our office in Belgium (Brussels).

Do you have a keen interest in trademark law and innovation? Then our team is looking for you. We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant with knowledge of trademark law who is open to innovative methods and solutions. You will be the face of Novagraaf and the Questel group towards clients and collaborate with them on the challenges in the market. Your mission is to manage the IP rights of our clients and advise them in the development and enforcement of their rights. The Belgian team consists of 16 colleagues who are ambitious, accessible, and non-hierarchical.

We are looking for:

You have several years of experience as an IP attorney and are ready for the next step in your career.  You know how important it is for a company to build a strong brand strategy. You will therefore respond quickly and fully to clients' questions and, above all, take the time to advise and assist them thoroughly. You understand the importance of good client relationships.

As an IP Consultant, these are your main challenges:

  • Knowledge: to-the-point advice to our clients and the further development of services and knowledge in all areas of IP (trademarks, designs, domain names, copyright) and related matters (e.g. contracts)
  • Customer satisfaction: a good insight into the client's current and future needs in the field of IP
  • High-performance culture: contributing to good performance and the knowledge of the entire team

In the role of IP Consultant, you are responsible for:

  • Assisting our clients in all legal issues in the field of IP and the management of their IP portfolio
  • Advising our clients on IP strategy, conducting trademark searches and defining the territorial and substantive scope of protection, handling dispute files, oppositions and objections, and drafting defence statements
  • Recognising the wishes and needs of clients and translating them into clear, pragmatic and business-oriented advice
  • Building and maintaining a relationship of trust with our clients
  • Representing Novagraaf during IP conferences, webinars, publications and giving presentations to clients, professionals and trade organizations.

We offer you:

  • A wide diversity of local and international clients
  • A full-time position and the opportunity to work flexibly
  • An attractive gross monthly salary supplemented with interesting employment conditions
  • A pleasant and open corporate culture where personal growth is stimulated

Our offices are easy to reach by public transport, bicycle or car. There is a car park and a restaurant in the building.

Requirements:

  • You are a lawyer with a specialisation in IP
  • You have worked for several years in an IP consultancy firm, in industry or in the legal profession in an IP/trademark law department
  • You are proactive, commercially-skilled, flexible, and know how to set priorities
  • Excellent command of the English language, spoken and written, and sufficient knowledge of French and Dutch to follow conversations with clients and colleagues
  • You enjoy working in a team
